The history of Litchfield United Methodist Church is a story of perseverance and piety. Methodism here began in the 1850s as an effort to bring the Gospel to Native Americans as well as settlers. The life of a Methodist preacher was dangerous and difficult during this time. Thankfully, some stability came when the congregation constructed its first church near Central Park in 1872-73. Over the decades, members improved and expanded the facility with heating upgrades, additions, and a new basement, adapting the building to meet the needs of a growing congregation. When the church was destroyed by fire on December 23, 1960, the congregation did not give up. Instead, we rebuilt, breaking ground for our current building in 1962. To honor our history, we built the original 1872 cornerstone into the new structure. Through every challenge, the people of our church demonstrated a steadfast commitment to spreading the Gospel and serving our community,

Pastor Ethan wants you to know that Jesus loves you, because who doesn't need to hear that? He enjoys helping people see God's love and the truth of Scripture revealed in everyday life. A self-confessed theology nerd, he finds great joy in using stories from books, and movies to illuminate biblical truths.
Pastor Ethan also welcomes challenging questions about Scripture, theology, and life. If you're wrestling with a difficult passage, a deep theological question, or the realities of everyday living, he'd love to hear from you.
